Here’s a few photos from a recent shoot with these sweet sisters I was lucky enough to photograph a second time.  They are possibly the nicest kids ever, and they totally love each other, which made for a really easy shoot – no fighting, no tears, just a whole lot of giggles and hugs.

I was just looking through my files and realized I neglected to show you guys one of my favorite recent engagement shoots.  This lovely couple was getting married in their hometown in Texas, but they live here in SF and wanted to capture their city in their engagement photos.  We took them on a supremely foggy day – my favorite kind, but it completely eclipsed the Golden Gate Bridge on the SF side so we went up to Marin to see if we could catch a ray of sunlight and a glimpse of the famous landmark.  We got lucky and got the best of all weather worlds.

So I’ve got some news, earlier this year my sis had another kiddo, so I’ve now got a nephew in addition to my two sweet nieces.  Of course we marked the occasion with a few photo shoots & here’s some of my recent favorites.

Just thought I’d share a few photos from a recent session with the lovely Anna of Loop Flowers (if you’re getting married in the Bay Area, she is the the most amazing florist – beautiful, modern, airy designs that are sheer perfection).  I did this shoot partly on film and partly on digital – I’m really getting back into film these days.

One of my favorite things to do is getting to hang out with other photographers.  It’s amazing how many different approaches to taking pictures there are and how fun it is to see how someone else does things.  A couple of weeks ago, our friend Eric Hanson of Noise Ranch photography was heading to Paris to shoot fashion things over there and he wanted to test a few pieces of equipment before he left so we did a little photo shoot around our house.  It was pouring rain and Mark and I had just finished watching the Man in the High Castle, which is set in San Francisco, so we decided to go all “actor” and did a photo shoot inspired by the show.  Despite our serious expressions, I think we laughed for about 90% of the shoot.  Here’s a few of my favorites.

Mark & I went to Japan for our honeymoon, and while we were there I took a zillion photos and a lot of notes on what to see, where to go, what to do & how to do it all.  One of my most favorite blogs, Snippet & Ink (which you should immediately add to your reading list for timeless-not-too-fussy and always cool wedding inspiration) published my guide to honeymooning there this week.  You can check out my general travel tips for honeymooning in Japan, Tokyo Honeymoon Guide and Kyoto Honeymoon Guide there.

It’s no secret that I love an intimate wedding, and actually specialize in photographing them.  There’s something so perfect about a small event.  To me, they feel especially warm and loving, and I think it’s because the focus is less on the details of managing a large party and more on the wedding itself.  Here’s a favorite that I shot at Waterbar in San Francisco.  The wedding and reception took place in a private room on the second floor at this pretty restaurant overlooking the Bay Bridge.  We took advantage of the location on the Embarcadero for some iconic San Francisco shots, and also of a pretty brick, university campus across the street for a more private setting for family photos.  The couple was expecting their first child, and they had a small wedding with just immediate family.  As you can see below, the love was just palpable and it was a wedding to remember.  Oh, and the lovely Shana Astrachan of Fox & Doll did the bride’s hair and makeup.

2015 was an absolutely fantastic year – I met the love of my life, married him & took a lot of pretty pictures of amazingly, lovely people.  Here’s a few of my favorite images from this year.
